Greening of school buses on display at Niagara Falls conference
Propane cheaper, cleaner alternative to diesel, electric buses still a work in progress
For generations, the big vehicles have guzzled diesel fuel like it’s going out of style, spewing smelly exhaust out the back end.
But newer technology that’s changing all that was on display at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls on May 16, at what was described as the largest student transportation conference in Canada.
Showcasing new clean technology were Phil Horlock, president and CEO of school bus manufacturing giant Blue Bird of Fort Valley, Georgia, and Steve Girardin, president of affiliated school bus manufacturer Micro Bird of Drummondville, Quebec.
